Friday Five: USA~! USA~!

In the spirit of the holiday, a Friday Five about all things to do with the US, cookouts, the 4th of July and other summery things:

1. Who was your favorite United States Champion?

2. Is the foreign menace still a good way to get a heel over to the main event?

3. When you were younger, did you try to do wrestling moves in the pool?

4. Lex Luger, Hulk Hogan, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, "The Patriot" Del Wilkes or Kurt Angle (or other): Which one was the quintessential all-American face and why?

5. If you were going to invite five wrestlers to a cookout, which ones would you invite?

  1. 1) Recently... MVP

    2) To get cheap heat and get the crowd going... yes. To actually get over and make a success of... no. In that regards, foreign menace type gimmicks actually seem to be more of a handicap these days. People may stil love to boo the Russain, but unless he has something else worth caring about, they won't invest.

    3) The pool, bed, trampoline... anywhere I though I could mess up and land on my head and bounce or splash instead of splat.

    4) Hogan. At the peak of his popularity, he was as over as anyone (save Austin) ever was. Plus, when he was waving the American flag and facing off against the foreign heels... that thing was more acceptable than it has been in the days of Luger and Wilkes and especially a guy like Angle (where he was actually a heel for being ll "Yeah USA" upon his debut)

5)Punk (got plenty of Pepsi lying around the house). Jericho, MVP,Cena, and HHH to squash the hamburger patties.

    2) To high midcard, I think. I'm still bummed the Hassan thing burned out before it could really get awesome.

    3) No. Just in the house.

    4) Hogan. Babyface Angle...ehhhh....

    5) Maria, Layla, Maryse, Mickie James, & Kelly Kelly.
