Instant Feedback: John Cena Is a Stupid Man!

He really isn't, but Chris Jericho said he was, and it was the line of the night.

Anyway, RAW was okay to good this week, although the exasperated and exhausted crowd hurt things a lot. That Jericho/Cena match should have been a lot hotter than it was, and it was a really good match too. The two have such great chemistry together, it's like they were born to wrestle each other. The finish even worked for me. I had to meditate on it a bit, but while it might have been a botch and Jericho wasn't supposed to tap that early, I think it made Jericho look like a very savvy, very smart wrestler. He knew he wasn't getting out of the STF, so he tapped before he could have gotten rent asunder. The post match promo from Cena and the posturing from Jericho was classic.

Going into the segment backstage with Jericho and Edge joining forces, I thought it was a little forced, but hey, I never thought their in-kayfabe heat was all that severe in the first place. It showed with how little heat their WM match got and how weak a face Edge was in the first place, so hey, why not go back to what was looking like it was going to work last year. As for the match next week... erg, hopefully Cena does most of the heavy lifting for Team Jort. Also hopefully, if the wayward Canadian Blondes don't make it back to the SummerSlam team, they counter with Evan Bourne and Mark Henry.

What I think hurt RAW tonight most was too much filler. I mean, did we really need the three-to-four minute recap? Or the trailer for that new Godawful Cena movie? Or the pre-taped, spliced in The Other Guys thing? No. It just kills the show quicker than the ebola virus.

Thankfully, what was good seemed to be abundant, even in the face of unmitigated filler. The main event was pretty decent, and even though Miz lost clean, he looked damn credible in the ring with one of the WWE's elite wrestlers. Sheamus cut a mean promo after his match with Goldust, and hey, they finally recognized their feud from last year on RAW! Holy crap! IT was only one of the top three feuds in the company all year! Damn me, but I also liked what they did with the Nexus trying to recruit Khali. It's the most interested I was in him since The Longest Yard.

SO yeah, I'd say that RAW wasn't anything special tonight, but it was actually pretty good when there was actually fresh, wrestling related content on the screen. However, that filler, plus the crowd's deadness, kinda hurt the show. They come back live next week though, so hopefully, those two problems are rectified.
