From the E-Feds to Reality: TEAM

For those who don't know, TH is an e-fed enthusiast. Even in years when he wasn't watching wrestling, he was still e-fedding. He ran several characters in several feds at a time at his peak, but now, he resides only in Empire Pro Wrestling with one character. Still, he's handled and seen a ton of characters and concepts. Some may work in the real world, some may not. This is one of those concepts from the former.

Name: TEAM

What's Its Deal: There were two incarnations of TEAM. The first one was an "ideal" form, a fed that was based on team sport. The second was an "interfed" of sorts that ran a bunch of tournaments. I'm going to focus on the former. Basically, you have teams of wrestlers representing a city or a club, and they compete against other teams in meets/games in a regular season format.

Was It Successful as an E-fed: Not necessarily. The thing was, it's very handler intensive. I made the mistake of starting it in a community that was dwindling and overstretched. The interfed variant of it was successful, but that required less commitment.

Could It Get Over in Reality: In the mainstream? Probably not. However, on the indie level, which is the best comparison to the e-fed scene that there is, I think this could work. I mean, you get a bunch of top stars from the indies, as well as up-and-comers and stars from other regions together. Tour around a region, preferably the Northeast, which has the biggest demand for high-visibility indie wrestling. Running shows one weekend a month or one weekend every three weeks, with a Championship super card at the end of the year. You could have a draft at the beginning of the first season, do trades, all the other kinds of stuff that regular team sports has to keep interest between cards. I think this is a winning idea, at least for the indie level.

Remember you can contact TH and ask him questions about wrestling, life or anything else. Please refer to this post for contact information. He always takes questions!
