2011 TWB Draft: Participant Announcement and Rules

Alright, I've finalized the lineup for this year's all-time draft, and yes, there'll be eight participants. I figure with the draft pool being open to EVERYONE who has ever wrestled in a squared circle around the world, I think it'd be pretty easy to get 200 guys drafted in relatively short order. Anyway, here are your eight competitors.

TH - Obviously.

Brandon Infinger - He pseudo-participated last year, teaming up with Dylan Hales to replace Butch Rosser at the last minute. The dude is hardcore about this kind of thing, and he's been a lifelong supporter of everything I've ever tried to do on the Internet. He's good people.

Dave McKinney - Another one of my Internet bros, he's an old-school Southern wrestling fan from the Georgia Perimeter who knows his stuff. Big old school NWA and WCW fan, but for some reason, he like Randy Orton. Weird.

Bill Baconhill - Bill is a new addition to the blogger scene. You can find his scribe here, where he talks about wrestling, writing and anything else that comes into his mind. Plus, he's a bacon afficianado. MAJOR BONUS POINTS.

Rob Franklin - Also a blogger (although more sporadic than some, but the quality's still good), RF comes at us repping SEMI. He likes long walks on the beach, Chuck Taylor and for some reason, the Detroit Lions.

John Eibach - He's a fellow Chikara fan and Philly indie wrestling maven. He's a reader of TWB who volunteered via the Facebook fan page, which you should be a fan of if you're on FB. Which I'm pretty sure most of you are, because Mark Zuckerberg owns the shit out of all of us.

AnonymousJX - A very strong new addition to the commentariat, JX has been a force to be reckoned with, posting strong screeds that have both rebutted and buttressed the points I've made. I respect his candor greatly, and he seems to be a guy who knows the width and breadth of his wrestling all around the world.

Billy Dunleavy - Finally, Billy comes to us from the Dayton area. He's pretty much the guy when it comes to ROH.

Okay, now that the people are down, here are the rules:

- There will be 22 rounds. That may sound daunting, but we blew through that same amount of picks in a couple of hours last year. Three rounds will be dedicated to picking two guys with one pick. Two will be tag rounds where you'd have to pick tag teams. Another will be a free-form dual pick, where you can go with any two you'd like. Rounds 5 and 6 will be the dedicated tag rounds. Round 21 will be the free form dual pick.

- You will have 3 minutes to pick. If you go past 3 minutes, you'll be skipped. IT was 5 minutes last year, but we also doubled the size of the roster of people picking. SO yeah, we gotta keep things moving.

- No trades. I thought about it, but I think it'd be pointless ultimately. Plus, I love seeing the reactions of people whose picks get sniped out from underneath them.

- We start at 8 PM EDT SHARP on Thursday night, so be there, or prepare to be skipped or even replaced.

That's it. Pretty simple. These rules will be reiterated on Thursday in the actual Live Blog post. And now, to peep the first round draft order, which I drew in a COMPLETELY legitimate manner out of my lucky Jigsaw mask:

1. TH
2. John
3. Bill B.
4. RF
5. Billy D.
6. A-JX
7. Brandon
8. Dave

The draft will be held in serpentine order. So, that means round 2 will be the opposite order of round 1, and round 3 will be the same as round 1, and so on and so forth. For the record, I got #1 fair and square, but in a serpentine draft... you want to be in the 4th or 5th spot, because that's the least amount of waiting between picks. And if you don't buy that, well... neener neener.

Anyway, I hope to see everyone there on Thursday. Remember, you don't need to participate in the Draft to head into the Live Blog! All commentary, analysis, cat calls, trolling, heckling or smart-assed remarks are welcome!

Remember you can contact TH and ask him questions about wrestling, life or anything else. Please refer to this post for contact information. He always takes questions!
