WrestleMania I was the initial event. WrestleMania III was when it became what it is today, quite literally. But what about WrestleMania II? It's rarely ever brought up nowadays, but of course, the amazingly eclectic duo of K. Sawyer Paul and Rich Thomas dissect it because they savor the forgotten, the obscure, and most importantly, the different. If you really wanted to get some kind of a handle on what at the time was an experiment (and the first WWE product offered on pay-per-view), and you didn't have time to sit down and watch it, I think this podcast will at least give you an idea.

The one that I don't think gets enough play is WM IV. What a ballsy move to hang the whole show on a title tourney. I loved it as a kid and I would lose my proverbial shit if they did it again. Can you imagine taking 16 of WWE's top guys and doing a one night tourney? Some surprise folks advancing or a great story of someone having grueling matches a la Bret Hart at KOTR only to face a fresh foe who caught a bye...I salivate at the thought.
