A Video Update from Tim Donst

Donst is still fightin', man

When last the world heard from Tim Donst, he was announcing that he had a malignant tumor on his kidney, and that he was going to get the entire organ removed. The surgery was successful, but what would that mean for his wrestling future? Getting cancer at 27 years old is not only a startling thing to deal with, it's a total mindfuck, especially when it's not linked to any sure exposure to known carcinogens. Donst recently got on video with Leonard F. Chikarason to discuss his mental and physical state. The video is behind the jump:

The good news is the cancer was contained to his kidney, and he seems to be fine on that front. The bad news is that he has to undergo shitloads more tests to determine his physical condition and to see when and if he can ever be healthy enough to return to the ring. Getting cancer that young raises a lot of red flags, and the doctors want to be completely sure he's healthy and safe enough to get back in the ring. Donst himself said he doesn't know when that okay will come.

However, he certainly wants to get back into the ring as soon as possible. Doing commentary or hanging around the shows isn't enough for him. It must be awful to have one's livelihood hanging over them for reasons out of their control. Donst is one of the most passionate and driven wrestlers on the indie scene, so this state of affairs is even more tortuous. While he's got good news, he's not out of the woods yet, so please keep tweeting him kind words and positive vibes. He'll get checked out on May 20th, and that presumably is when the doctors will let him know whether or not he's out of the woods for good or at least for the time being.
