It's time to remember Big Dust

Eden Stiles, WWE ring announcer and Dusty Rhodes' daughter-in-law, took to Instagram today to give an update on the cause of his death. The embed is after the jump:

"Natural causes after a brief illness" could be anything, but if the Rhodes/Runnels family doesn't want to disclose details, then I sure as hell am not going to be the one to go digging for them. The general reaction to Rhodes' passing has been both shock and sweetness, especially from former confidants like Steve Corino and current students/mentees in NXT. If you need a good cry, scour every single NXT wrestler's timeline for their Rhodes tributes. If want a good laugh while you cry, at least read Kevin Owens' and Sami Zayn's Tweet-Longer entries.

Of course, we here at The Wrestling Blog would be remiss if we did not celebrate the life, times, and influence of Big Dust. His is a legacy that transcends only one meager remembrance post, so much in the same way that other icons such as Mitsuharu Misawa and Randy Savage were honored, I have decided to dedicate a whole week to the life and times of Dusty Rhodes. Dusty Week will kick off on Monday. The staff and I will be posting remembrances, videos, matches, and other musings on his legacy. If you would like to join in the celebration of the life of the Bull of the Woods, then drop me a line at tom DOT holzerman AT gmail DOT com. The best way for a community to heal and grieve is to do it together, and if you would like to join in and you don't have a place for your contributions, contact me and I will find a place for your memories of the man himself.
