Last Year's Runners Up Are IN As Well

The tremendous tecnicos are back

The team that the Devastation Corporation defeated to win King of Trios last year is back again. Last year, the trio of Dasher Hatfield, Mark Angelosetti, and Icarus held all the hardware in Chikara and were dubbed the Golden Trio. Since then, the Throwbacks lost Los Campeonatos de Parejas to the Blaster McMassive and Max Smashmaster of the DevCorp at Tomorrow Never Dies, and Hallowicked allowed Icarus to come back from England without having to bring the Grand Championship through customs. Now dubbed as Dasher's Dugout (the same team name they have along with Heidi Lovelace in the Challenge of the Immortals), the team will look for redemption through winning the most populous tournament of the year.

Right away, the Dugout looks to be one of the favorites to win the whole thing, especially if the trio finds itself across the ring from the Corporation in the finals again. Then again, it could also unravel at any point as well, at least judging from the only Chikara show I got a chance to sit down and watch this year so far, where the crowd turned on Icarus pretty hard and he wasn't exactly resisting the siren call of his "Worst in the World" heel mantel. Chikara is very easy to follow from the outskirts, but it can be hard getting the full gist of what's going on if you don't get a chance to watch the shows. But I digress.

Regardless, the team will probably make a deep run in the tournament because all three are royalty within the promotion, titles or not. They, along with the DevCorp, will join the Blue World Order, Bullet Club, Team ATTACK, Team Fight Club, and Team Lucha Underground in the fray this year. Nearly half the teams are in, and this tournament is shaping up to be another all-timer.
