D-VON! GET THE TABLES!

A great surprise

The Dudley Boys returned to WWE last night in a move that was both a surprise and something that inevitable, to be honest. When Bubba Ray showed up at the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant, the wheels seemed to be greased for him and Brother D-Von to come back into the fray. Then, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan started using the 3D when they reunited as a tag team earlier in the summer. However, Rowan got hurt, and Bubba returned to TNA as Bully Ray to become the company's authority figure. As soon as he was written into television though, he was written out in classic TNA style.

While a return from the classic team wasn't surprising, them showing up last night in the manner of which they did brought a jolt to to the show. In an age of spoilers and leaks, where the ending of last night's show was inevitable because everyone with a blog or a newsletter or a website reported on Sting's whereabouts, the Dudleys showing up with absolutely no advance warning was both amazing and satisfying. They may be older, but I'll be damned if I don't want to see them going up against the Prime Time Players or especially New Day. When WWE really wants to, it can create moments. Too bad it has problems continuing those stories, as seen with the women last night...
