So, Jushin "Thunder" Liger is a mere nine days away from making his debut in a WWE ring at NXT's Takeover: Brooklyn event. He'll be taking on Tyler Breeze in one of the marquee matches for the event. Even though it still feels like some fever dream, especially since Liger was last seen in America working for NXT's most direct competitor, Ring of Honor, it's actually going to happen. In fact, Liger actually released a video to the folks at NXT hyping his arrival:

I'm not sure people are grasping the gravity of this situation, maybe because Liger, unlike Sting, didn't make enormous main event waves in a mainstream American promotion. However, he has been one of the standard-bearers for the junior heavyweight style that so many subsequent WWE main event wrestlers have adopted, whether through direct influence like Chris Jericho or through the trickle-down effect like Daniel Bryan. It's a momentous occasion, and now it actually feels real. Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens might be a fun car crash, and Sasha Banks vs. Bayley might be the main event, whether it goes on last or not, but Liger and Breeze are definitely in the most intriguing match.
