Roddy Piper and Randy Savage were two peas in a pod in some respects, but in one way, they showed some differences. Savage always seemed to play better on promos when he had Mean Gene Okerlund to bounce off of. Piper was more of a tour de force all by his lonesome. In this promo for a Cow Palace house show match against his WrestleMania tag team partner and current enemy Paul Orndorff, Okerlund didn't even stick around to hear Piper's big long spiel; he went to the bathroom. But Piper's manic delivery was the ultimate in wrestling's one-man shows, and he displayed it here in full fury for a house show match against the man he had at that point recently turned on. Watching the wheels turn in Piper's head as he's doing improv is almost as good as the words that are coming out of his mouth. Piper may have had a few peers in terms of his ability to gab, but I would be hard pressed to say that anyone of them did it quite like he did. The man was unique.
