Big Cass Got Hurt

Enzo Amore, Big Cass, and Carmella can't seem to catch a break. Despite being among the most over wrestlers on NXT, they are floating in weird continuum where they're too popular to be total jobbers, but their ship to compete in the new tag division has probably sailed. They were rumored to have been big debuts after SummerSlam, but that slot went to the returning Dudley Boyz. Carmella suffered an apparent injury in a match against Eva Marie at the NXT Nashville house show, and even outside of that, she's stuck in eternal enhancement mode. And now, any main roster aspirations the Bridge and Tunnel Gang seems to have will be put on hold. The beatdown the team took at the hands of Dash and Dawson on last night's episode was meant to write the them out of continuity while Big Cass recovers from a MCL sprain and bone bruise.

The WWE.com story says that Cass' injury is similar to Ben Roethlisberger's, and that he'll be out for four to six weeks. That timeframe will presumably have them back in time for Takeover: London, which will take place December 16. The question is whether the attack is being set up for an angle to build a match for the former Mechanics or whether they're going to take on a team like, say, Chad Gable and Jason Jordan regardless of what the status of Amore and Cass is. Without spoiling anything that's going to happen on NXT television the next couple of weeks, Dash's and Dawson's push is pretty serious right now.

Either way, losing Big Cass to injury is a giant suck for NXT, as the Bridge and Tunnel Gang is among the most entertaining acts that WWE has ever seen. Hopefully, he can recover quickly and fully, and when they do get back in action, creative, whether in NXT or on RAW, has something for them. They may not be the best workers right now, but their ability to take the crowd in the palms of their hands and make them react is innate, and YOU CAN'T TEACH THAT.
