Foley Critical of TNA, Says Re-Signing There Unlikely

From Dot Net via Geek Week

Mick Foley had an interview with Geek Week recently, and his wrestling career came up. He said that he's unlikely to re-sign with TNA, although his contract doesn't expire for another 8-9 months. That's a lot of time to change one's mind, especially given TNA usually goes through one or two storyline reboots in that period and may have use for Foley by then. If he's getting paid money or catered to, the guy does change his tune. I love Foley, but he is a notorious brown-noser.

Not a happy camper

Among his other complaints were the company NOT airing any footage of his appearance at the Rally for Sanity a month or so back, which I can totally understand. Despite the left-leaning nature of the rally, it's something that might have garnered mainstream press for TNA. In contrast, despite being a staunch Republican, Vince McMahon would have been all over that if Foley were still working for him. I guess I can respect TNA for not airing it since Foley hasn't been on the air, and I'd rather not have my wrestling shows inundated with shills for appearances and other happy horseshit like that, but I can see where Foley would be upset.

Also on Foley's laundry list were the amount of wrestling that happens each week on Impact (too little, and I wholeheartedly agree) and the number of hot-shot heel/face turns that happen all the time (agreed again). He also said that he wasn't needed since Hulk Hogan's there and is the face of the company (don't agree with that... if anything Eric Bischoff is now the face of the company since Hogan shows up every other set of tapings now... not that that's any better), and that he doesn't want to wrestle much anymore since it wouldn't do anything but raise ratings a tenth of a point. Sounds like there are some deep-seated issues between Foley and TNA that exist.

Anyway, he also said he wanted to get into the WWE Hall of Fame at some point, and given that his latest book was pimped on WWE programming while he was working for TNA, I'd say he'll be welcomed back with open arms if/when he decides to come back. But yeah, Foley doesn't sound happy here at all.

Remember you can contact TH and ask him questions about wrestling, life or anything else. Please refer to this post for contact information. He always takes questions!
