Weekend Wrap-Up: Christian the Conquering Hero, Trish the Botcher and Donst's Wild Ride

- Elimination Chamber *sigh* was the big ticket item this weekend, and judging from the feedback, it was yet another big critical success for WWE PPV. The night was highlighted by Miz defeating Jerry Lawler in a match that deflated the crowd, both in Oakland and on the Internet. Seems the consensus was Lawler deserved a 24 hour "Kane" run with the belt, and I'd be very hard-pressed to disagree with that sentiment. Still, how can you complain about Miz winning a PPV main event? Anyway, the Elimination Chamber winners were Edge and John Cena, setting up their respective runs to WrestleMania against Alberto del Rio and The Miz. Also last night, Christian returned and confronted the aforementioned del Rio, popping the crowd huge and continuing to shove Vince McMahon's backwards attitude about his main event capabilities right in his smug douche face. Trish Stratus came back too, announced as one of the trainers for Tough Enough. She was also a human Botchamania moment, but for someone who's been away for as long as she has and for someone asked to work in six inch heels? I think I can forgive her.

- It was Chikara weekend too, but you already knew that. Anyway, the big news coming out of Easton yesterday was that finally, Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli will do battle in a singles match, March 13th in Brooklyn, NY. This happened after the locker room cleared out after the main event with The Colony defeating Castagnoli and Tursas. Claudio demanded the respect owed to him from Three Fisted Tales, and Kingston replied that they'd have to kill him to get it. Awesome. As for the matches, Mike Quackenbush defeated Green Ant in a rematch from We Must Eat Michigan's Brain last year, the Osirian Portal teaming of Hieracon and Amasis won a four-way eliminator, notable for the UnStable costing 3.0 three points in getting eliminated. Turnabout is fair play, seeing as 3.0 distracted the UnStable in their match against the Throwbacks earlier in the card. Also Sunday, Madison Eagles defeated Sara del Rey and Tim Donst logged 2:00 of his 2:04 in Chikara match time in a win over Jigsaw, with shenanigans from BDK ref Derek Sabato. Yes, that's two minutes and four seconds, because on Saturday, Max Boyer defeated Donst in four seconds. Just part of an eventful weekend for one Tim Donst, but we'll get more into that later. Speaking of Saturday's card in Reading, both Frightmare and QuackSaw retained their respective Championships, Brodie Lee took his match against Sugar Dunkerton by countout and the Osirian Portal defeated the Colony in trios action.

- Speaking of Donst's weekend, he had a huge night Friday in Lakewood, OH at AIW's event. He won the Gauntlet for the Gold and will go onto face Absolute Champion Johnny Gargano at Absolution 6. However, in the meantime, there's still at least one more card before that epic showdown, Battle Bowl. For that card, he called out Kevin Steen and the challenge was answered. Donst/Steen should be a pretty epic slugfest if you ask me. This coincides with me finally watching Chikara's Faded Scars and Lines yesterday and seeing the Donst/Bryan Danielson match, which might have been his best match that I've seen from his indie sabbatical last year. That's saying something. Also, Jessika Havoc won the AIW Womens Championship from Angeldust.
