A Former Rey de Voladores Champion Enters the Fray

Will Scorpio win a second RdV title?

The Rey de Voladores tournament has just gotten another huge name entered into its running, and he is the first former Champion to step into the ring. 2 Cold Scorpio, who won the self-contained Rey de Voladores tournament at the first National Pro Wrestling Day in 2013, will look to become the first two-time winner in 2015. Scorpio has been an elite worker since the early '90s in his days in World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling, and he's also no stranger to Chikara. In addition to appearing at NPWD, he competed in the 2012 King of Trios tournament along with Tommy Dreamer and Jerry Lynn. Any show he's added to gets a boost, and I'm super psyched for him to be there again.

Also on the docket for night two is a singles match that will figure into the Challenge of the Immortals. "Smooth Sailing" Ashley Remington, who will represent the Battle Hive, will enter one-on-one combat with the Wrecking Crew's Jaka. It certainly doesn't have the cache of Remington's singles match from last year's tournament against Yamamoto/Yoshi Tatsu, but I think it will add a nice accent to the card with some overarching stakes in play. Plus, it'll probably be a solid match, which is what matters the most.

Finally, it was announced today that MK McKinnan will not be able to make the trip over for King of Trios. Taking his place in Team Fight Club, along with Trent Seven and Tyler Bate, will be Dan Moloney, who is billed as a "rookie sensation." Again, I don't know much about him, so that makes Team Fight Club even that much more mysterious, at least to me.
