Instant Feedback: New World Chump

Jack Swagger just won the World Championship on Friday night. How was he treated upon his return to RAW? John Cena told him he wasn't Championship material. How did he prove Cena wrong? By giving him a Swagger Bomb and then beating Randy Orton clean in the middle of the ring.

Wait, no, that's the exact opposite of what happened. Swagger suffered an ignomious fate, being treated as an afterthought, being laid out with an RKO in the opening segment and then being defeated clean as a whistle by Randy Orton. So over the course of your show, you made one of your World-level Champions look like an absolute tool in his sendoff before he left to exclusively compete on the other brand.

Folks, this is why the WWE is doomed to stay in the purgatory of this "elevated" quiet period. They may get spikes at 4.0 and flirt with getting above-average buyrates, but they'd rather hitch their wagons to the old guard with all their chips and not let a new guy shine until he's "paid his dues". Seriously, what the hell is paying dues anymore? How is humiliating and undermining a potential draw on camera beneficial to anything? You strapped Swagger, now it's your responsibility to build him up like a fucking Champion should be built up.

But no, instead, they give TV time to a green starfucker who needed to screw Cena out of a title match to get a modicum of heat. David Otunga is cricket-inducing and doesn't have the "it" factor to get his "me me me I I I me me me" promo material over with anyone, no matter what Michael Cole tells you. (In fact, if Michael Cole tells you tomorrow that Hulk Hogan was the greatest wrestler of all-time, you should stop believing it and hitch your wagon to the Ultimate Warrior bandwagon, because that's how wrong he is.) I mean, look at all the great heels on the roster. CM Punk, The Miz, Chris Jericho... they all involve the crowd in their promos. The great faces do to. It's a fucking crowd interaction, you're not up there to tell everyone you're hot shit because you're fucking Jennifer Hudson, you self-absorbed piece of boring garbage.

Daniel Bryan gets crowd reactions just by chaining submissions. David Otunga has to give the crowd blue balls on a hot tag tease just to get mild heat. Fuck that. But this is the guy we're supposed to believe is the next big thing. Not the guy you had faith enough to strap on Friday.

Tonight's episode was frustrating as all hell because the wrestling on it was good. Kofi/Sheamus was a fun squashy match (don't get me started on Kofi's burial either). DiBiase/Christian was excellent, as was Swagger/Orton, even if it was the wrong finish. As an aside... I marked out hard for the Million Dollar Belt. The main event tag was even good, and the end of the show, with Batista setting up Last Man Standing? Great again.

But you can't keep treating your Champions like this. The non-title match loss bullshit needs to stop. The constant chumping of anyone who isn't already established or who is Triple H's workout buddy needs to stop, and the overexposure of an overrated starfucker definitely needs to stop.
