Know Your Indie Wrestlers: Joey Ryan

Before I get to this, yeah, I know, King of Trios really messed up the schedule for the regular blog features. From the Archives got bumped Sunday, the Tuesday Know Your Indie Wrestler got delayed from the morning until now and I may not get a Six Pack up until tomorrow (not bumping the Six Pack, I have a great topic this week). Plus, the first entry I got up today was the KoT review. But really, KoT was so awesome that I felt like I had to give it its proper due. Once the house is in order by tomorrow, we should be back on track. Aaaaanyway....

Why You Should Know Joey Ryan: Joey Ryan is one of the founding members of PWG, which may be the hottest indie fed in the country, Chikara notwithstanding. As a founding member, he's got a lot of history with the fed and he's a mainstay, one that probably will never go away unless he unfortunately gets hurt like Super Dragon or gets a call from the WWE (to do more than job or appear as security during the Big Show/Mayweather match at WM24) or TNA. He's also branching out to the East Coast, having made his ROH debut last year and entrenching himself in one of the fed's oldest stables, The Embassy.

Ryan is also among the most charismatic wrestlers and best promos in the business. The guy has such great delivery, a great classic gravelly wrestling voice, so old school in tone and yet very modern in delivery. He looks like a throwback to the '70s, or at the very least a cheesy porno film, and it onloy adds to his lustre.

Either way, Ryan has flown under the radar and been a treasure known only to West Coast indie stalwarts until recently. I think he'll have no problem winning this coast over with every day he spends getting to know and work in front of the savvy ROH fans.
