Weekend Wrap-Up: Fallen Angels Get Happy Easters

Daniels- ROH had its Big Bang iPPV this past Saturday to rousing critical praise. Well, for everything up to the main event, that is. Not the nominal main event of Tyler Black vs. Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries, which went on second to last and received RAVE reviews, but for the tag match featuring a bunch of lucha guest stars that went on last because one of the dipshits showed up late. F that. If I were ROH, I would have axed him from the card and did a lucha three-way, because that title match deserved to go on last. Also, Claudio Castagnoli has garnered tag belts in a second fed now that he and Chris Hero defeated the Briscoes for the ROH Tag Titles. Also notable, Christopher Daniels showed up, which leads to the next note...

- ...according to the Observer paysite, TNA cut ties with Daniels this weekend. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, Daniels has been lost in the shuffle and would probably get to make more money trolling the independent circuit and taking bookings in PWG and ROH rather than being lucky to get on an Impact taping or get a chance to get a piece of the house show purse. On the other, I'm sure Daniels was making some good coin in TNA and, well, the guy deserved better. He was one of the founding fathers of the company and for Hogan to come in and totally sweep him under the rug is pretty shitty. Daniels is in his 40s now, and he deserved a good sendoff into his twilight years. He'll get it in ROH, where I'll at least enjoy him. I have to say, I never really got to enjoy him in TNA as much, but now that I'm discovering his work in the indies, maybe this will be a good move for him in selfish terms.
