Why You Should Know MsChif: MsChif is the face of SHIMMER Women Athletes. And the voice, if that voice is represented by a shrill shriek. If you think that's insignificant, well, think again. SHIMMER is the closest thing America has to a real live Joshi-styled legitimate women's fed in history. I don't recollect a whole lot about GLOW (even though I was kind of an avid watcher back when I was young... go fig), but SHIMMER makes the Knockouts Division look like the Divas Division, the Divas Division look like a Miss America pageant and WrestleLicious look like softcore porn. And MsChif is the ace. Take note that she had held their World Championship for an amazing near 2 years before dropping it to Madison Eagles at the most previous set of DVD tapings. That's unheard of, and it's not like they've had slouches coming through their doors. Awesome Kong, Cheerleader Melissa (aka Alissa Flash/Raesha Saeed), Daffney, Sara del Rey, Daizee Haze, Lacey, LuFisto and Allison Danger, among others, have all at one point wrestled in the fed during her epic title reign. That's about as much star power as you can get without dipping into the WWE's well (and even then, I'm not so sure that Nattie Neidhart might have still been appearing in the fed towards the beginning of that run).
She's also poised to make a breakout in ROH, which hopefully could lead to her competing in PWG as well (where Candice LeRae and Christine von Eerie compete with the men regularly). If and when that happens, you'll be hearing her name a lot more and she'll prove what she's proven to the regular followers of SHIMMER in the past. I regretfully admit that I'm late to the game on women's wrestling on the whole and have never seen a full SHIMMER match, but the snippets I've seen, especially MsChif's execution on her stiff and innovative offense has greatly impressed me. That Desecrator is a mean move, and she innovated it.
Sara del Rey deservedly is the most recognizable female face in indie wrestling, but I'm sure she won't mind sharing the spotlight when MsChif breaks through. She's talented, charismatic and even kinda cute, and she'll end up being a credit to women's wrestling on a wider basis sooner rather than later, if she isn't already.
