Chikara's Young Lions Cup Tournament: Field Announced

Lince Dorado and Green Ant, 2 of the Favorites Going into This Year's YLCAll 24 entrants into Chikara's Annual Young Lions Cup Tournament have finally been announced. The eighth installment of the tourney will take place exclusively in Reading, PA between August 27th and August 29th. Last year, Player Dos of the Super Smash Bros. defeated Colin Delaney in the finals of a tournament that saw the unveiling of Dasher Hatfield, the debut of the mysterious original Vökoder (who turned out to be current YLC Champ Tim Donst) and guest appearances from Stinky the Homeless Guy, Yellow Dog and the North Star Express. Other competitors in the tourney included Player Uno, Soldier and Carpenter Ants (the latter being Pinkie Sanchez IN DISGUISE~!), Frightmare, Grizzly Redwood, Lince Dorado and Hydra (RIP, little buddy, RIP).

This year's field looks pretty varied and actually very unfamiliar to me. I know about half the names. For the sake of information, here's a list of the competitors:
  • Kaio
  • Green Ant
  • Christian Able
  • Josh Pain
  • Amasis
  • Johnny Gargano
  • Adam Cole
  • Lince Dorado
  • Obariyon
  • Skull
  • Kyle O'Reilly
  • Frightmare
  • Akira Tozawa
  • Eric Ryan
  • Brandon Michael Thomas
  • Sugar Dunkerton
  • Chrisjen Hayme
  • Sindarin
  • Cameron Skyy
  • Keita Yano
  • Ophidian
  • Dustin Rayz
  • Andy "Right Leg" Ridge
  • Manabu Soya
Of the names that I haven't seen live, I've heard of only a few more. Still, it's very exciting to see new faces pop up and get exposed to different wrestlers from parts of the country that you don't really get a chance to hear about. Of course, of the names I do know, I'm impressed. Green Ant, Frightmare, the Osirian Portal, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole and especially Sugar Dunkerton all bring the goods.

Now, for an early handicap on the tournament? Well, I'm going to wait until the full preview coming later this month, especially as the individual QF matches are announced, but I kinda like Green Ant to take this with Lince, Frightmare and possibly Gargano as contenders.
