This is supremely brilliant.
Anyway, the meme is that The Miz brought home Cleveland's first Championship in over 50 years. For those who don't like pro wrestling, that might be disingenuous, but hear me out here. If you're a Clevelander, you might want to embrace the Awesome One as your title deliverer. He's certainly way more likeable than a certain other iconic figure from the Cleveland area who was counted on to bring a NBA Championship to the City by the Lake.
For one, unlike that ingrate LeBron James, Miz is FROM Cleveland, not a shiftless Akronite who only used his Cleveland ties to his advantage. He seems to love the city and even if he bashes it in kayfabe, you know that's not what he's feeling inside. You won't see him wearing a Yankees cap or telling people he grew up a fan of the Bulls, Yankees and Cowboys. Two, Miz, unlike LeBron, doesn't choke on the biggest stages. The guy puts on his best matches whether it's on ECW or Superstars or on PPV. I mean, the guy was a star performer at WrestleMania and Money in the Bank as well as at Night of Champions, even when he was jobbing to Daniel Bryan. Three, his Twitter is fun to read and not self-aggrandizing or phony like "King" James' is.
Finally, four, and this is the most important part, Mike Mizanin, The Miz, is AAAAAAAWESOMMMMMMME!, which is more than anyone can say for LeChoke. Cleveland, embrace your WWE Champion. Sure, the sport is staged, but at least its Champion is a true native son, and think of it this way. The WWE, for as big and soulless and New York-based as it is, had Miz win the WWE Championship the night after he cut a scathing promo IN MIAMI bashing everything LeBron James stood for. I thought that was kinda cool myself. Regardless of work or shoot though, Miz is a great representation of Cleveland, and you guys can claim him as your own. Appreciate that.
