I Love the Smell of a Good Lucha de Apuesta in the Morning

Ares blogs the stipulations

As if High Noon couldn't get any more high stakes than it is now, someone is going to be leaving the Arena without something they hold valuable. UltraMantis Black could leave without his mask. They're in negotiations for Hallowicked to suffer the same fate should he take the fall. Tim Donst could leave without his hair. Ares himself could be lighter the weight of one Eye of Tyr. It's a good, old-fashioned lucha de apuesta, and quite frankly, if Chikara was going to go forward without one on their first ever iPPV, I'd have been at least mildly disappointed.

Lucha libre's most important match isn't the title match, it's the one where the competitors wager something deeply personal as the culmination of a blood feud. Often times, this has manifested itself in any combination of match vs. hair matches. As the most prominent American lucha libre promotion, it's only natural that the match between Mantis' army and the BDK is the one that has these personal stakes in them. It's a story that began before even I started following the promotion, and why not have it end here, at the first ever iPPV for the company, in a lucha de apuesta.

Also in High Noon news, El Generico and Jigsaw were signed to a match that will air on the free UStream preshow. That has the potential to be the best tilt on the card, and they're giving it away for free, as enticement to watch the rest of the show. Holy poop, if that's not a company that knows how to lure in an audience, I don't know what is. Seriously, that match has me giddy. Generico! Jigsaw! AWESOME!
