Episode 111: Stanskykonia

Patrick Vint of Black Heart Gold Pants and the SB Nation mothership returns to the podcast for the second episode of FOOTBAW month here on the podcast. Before we get into the college football talk, we take a look at SummerSlam. Triple H as a ruiner is discussed before we get into how much we're digging on this card on the whole because of the richness of stories. I bring up Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow being the rare heel vs. heel feud in WWE, while Pat regales about his coworker who is Brock Lesnar's exact doppelganger, right down to the love of Jimmy John's. We touch on the Kane/Bray Wyatt and mixed tag matches as well.

Then, I pick Pat's brain about all things college football. We start out in his area of expertise, Iowa, and he has some hope that things won't be as dire as they were last year. Afterwards, the state of the Big 10 is on the table. Pat thinks Ohio State needs to win the BCS to help even the odds on the recruiting bloodbath suffered by the conference against the SEC, while I just want the conference not to be saddled with the "boring" label. We get into player safety issues regarding Nick Saban's complaints about no-huddle and the O'Bannon Suit. We end with discussion of the fun Pac-12 and some players, teams, and games to watch for next year.
