WWE's fetishization of having Shawn Michaels around is a goddamn shame, because crazy old man Bob Backlund would have been the perfect special guest referee for Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton. Sure, the reasoning might be paper thin in that his involvement would lead to a dream match of mine with Bryan, but as Jeff Paternostro correctly noted on Twitter, their potential tilt would be the greatest WWE match of all-time.
Anyway, crazy old man Bob Backlund is one of my two or three favorite characters of all-time, and even though he was only around for a hot second last night, I was sufficiently pleased.
