Chris Hero has signed on for EVOLVE 3 to take on Bobby Fish. This wouldn't be all that newsworthy except for the fact that Hero recently signed a contract with ROH. The last EVOLVE headliner who signed a ROH contract was removed from all Sapolsky-promoted cards. Yep, it's curious to me that Davey Richards just up and left the DGUSA/EVOLVE family after signing, and yet Hero is still around despite his contract. This doesn't pass the smell-test at all.
I'm gonna try to follow up on it. Whether it was just a change of heart by Sapolsky re: booking ROH contracted talent or whether there was actually a rift between him and DR, I'm actually going to try to sniff it out.
ETA: Sapolsky messaged me back within minutes saying that Richards "spat in [his] face" and went back on promises. He didn't go much deeper than that, which I can respect. I'd love to get DR's side of this story too, but that will probably never happen at this point. Still, it's good to know that signing with ROH will not kill someone's chances of appearing at DGUSA or EVOLVE.
