Instant Feedback: Laryngitis Cut the Mic, Phil

For one, I hate real names.

I also am not a huge fan of no-selling, and yeah, Triple H no-sold that crowd reaction to Punk like he was Great Power Uti shrugging off a Super Domino punch to the nuts. When he said that you had to get over with the crowd, the crowd cheered loudly. When Punk said he earned everything, he was right and the crowd was responsive. Trips acknowledged that a bit too late. I also think it's pretty obvious that it was Larry Middleman who cut the mic. It's going to be pretty anti-climactic at Night of Champions when he, Kevin Nash and possibly Stephanie McMahon form their newish world order of things. I mean, both Punk and Trips are showing extreme amounts of cognitive dissonance here, and they're both going to look pretty dumb. Whatever happened to the Cerebral Assassin and the guy whose gift of gab makes any microphone turn into a pipe bomb?

That being said, it was a good segment despite those things. Other than that though, it was really a non-descript RAW. Not good when Night of Champions is six days away. I was pretty underwhelmed by the wrestling on the show, and for crying out loud, can we stop it with Bret Hart wrestling? The guy can't bump, so he shouldn't be out there. I'm also willing to admit that maybe there's a storyline trope going on there with John Cena's obsession with beating up poor, defenseless Ricardo Rodriguez, but I still cringe at the biggest good guy in the company picking on a dude who can't fight. I mean, it's something that a dick heel or Randy Orton would do to draw out a challenger. Not the Hustle, Loyalty and Respect Cena. But then again, that Cena is laying in the coffin right now. This Cena would much rather remind us that Alberto del Rio is a gimmick and that we should all be uncomfortable because HIS OPPONENT ISN'T REAL GUISE. GUISE?

I understood the Vickie Guerrero stuff on the show. The match with Kelly Kelly was drizzling shits, but this is the one angle on RAW that has been advanced nearly perfectly. Meanwhile, Beth Phoenix's aborted run in helped make Kelly look savvy, which is needed if the program is going in a "Kelly is underrated and wants to earn respect" direction. If it's going in the "Beth and Nattie are jealous because they're not pretty", I'm going to throw something. But yeah, I'm totally hoping that Jack Swagger ends up with the US Championship, because I think a singles feud between him and Ziggler would be tits. Plus, fuck the notion of John Morrison or Alex Riley holding gold.

But as with any show lately, the highlight was Mark Henry splitting himself some wigs. God, I love seeing Mark Henry split wigs.
