Wrestling Six Packs: Favorite Tag Feuds

Kings of the ladder, rocks of my favorite tag feud ever

This week's six pack inspiration comes from Paul Brisbin who wanted to know what the best tag team feuds have been in wrestling history. While I do like to know about wrestling and wrestling history, I can only speak on what I've seen, so instead of "best", let's switch gears to "favorite" of mine. Here are six tag feuds that I dug over my time as a wrestling fan:

1. Edge and Christian vs. the Hardy Boyz vs. the Dudley Boyz

Obviously, this is leading things off, because c'mon, it was classic. It produced some of the most amazing spotfest-style matches ever. Plus, it really established Edge and Christian as natural heels, their best roles. It also gave the world the Dudleys in their natural state, as raucous and chaotic bringers of death. Of course, it probably sent the Hardyz to their drug addictions, but nothing's perfect.

2. Money Inc. vs. the Steiner Bros.

The Steiner Bros. were more of a WCW/NWA mainstay team, but they had a decent WWF run. The pinnacle of this came as they feuded with Ted DiBiase and IRS for the Tag Team Championships. This culminated in a really sweet steel cage match on Saturday Night's Main Event, back when they had the old-school blue cage? Yeah, that was the stuff.

3. Sabu and Rob Van Dam vs. Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon

This was a shorter feud, but back in the original, these two teams had some pretty snazzy matches. It was a classic cocky heel team against the well-traveled, ringer face team of gaijin from Japan. One of the matches on Hardcore TV went almost the entire length of the show. It was great. It was great despite the fact that the out-of-ring portion of the feud was carried mostly by Van Dam and Bill Alfonzo.

4. American Wolves vs. Kevin Steen and El Generico

A recent feud from ROH, which I still contend has a great tag division. I liked this feud because it seemed like the hopeless chase, a feud between sentimental underdog crowd-favorites and the kind of heel team in the Wolves that I love, the dominant heel team that was heel mainly because they were so good. This was a feud that really could only have worked in ROH, where it ended with the heels winning out in the end and the crowd totally not shitting on it. Plus, it was the impetus for an even better singles feud between Steen and Generico.

5. The Colony vs. Team FIST

Technically, this isn't really a feud between tag teams as much as it is between trios, but it did culminate in an awesome lucha de apuesta where Icarus and Chuck Taylor wagered their hair against Fire and Soldier Ants' masks. They always have had a great rivalry with each other, and as long as both trios are in Chikara, they probably always will.

6. Hart Foundation vs. The Nasty Boys

I guess this gets props for being my first real tag team feud that I remember. This was the last gasp of Bret Hart as a mainly tag wrestler, and I was really into the big match at WrestleMania VII. Of course, the Harts lost to the Nasty Boys, but hey, I'm still a supporter of tag wrestling regardless. SUCCESS!
