WWE Officially Stands for Nothing, Über-Smarks to Go into Conniption

Say goodbye to World Wrestling Entertainment, say hello to WWE. Yes, like KFC did a while back, the WWE took their abbreviation and made it their official name, making the letters officially stand for nothing. This is the latest strike in the crusade to wipe the word "wrestling" from their lexicon. Personally, I don't think it's that big a deal. Again, it's something that some people will take super-seriously, but as long as the format on the screen doesn't change, then I really don't take issue with it.

The biggest thing that'll probably come out of this is TNA will ramp up its efforts to claim it's the only "wrestling" company out there and yet produce two-hour Impacts with less wrestling on it than you'll probably find on Tough Enough. That's pretty much the funniest thing about this. WWE distances itself from the word wrestling and yet you can still find a decent amount of grappling action most weeks on Smackdown and even RAW. TNA embraces the word, and it's mostly Eric Bischoff smugging up the screen, backstage shaky-camera segments and shooty angles where the guys take shots at WWE for not being a wrestling company despite being a wrestling company that doesn't call itself a wrestling company. Got that?

Anyway, there actually was some pretty interesting news to come out of this. Triple H's corporate position was revealed. The longtime target of my hatred, who's actually been redeeming himself in my eyes as of late, will assume the head of a new department for talent development. This means he'll be signing, recruiting and, obviously, developing talent. What this means is unsure as of right now, but apparently, Trips was the guy behind signing Sin Cara. That automatically buys him a million cool points in my book after his debut on Monday, and if he keeps dazzling, then, well, hell, maybe I'll end up feeling neutral towards the sum-bitch by the end of the year. And that's WAY better than drawing my ire.

Remember you can contact TH and ask him questions about wrestling, life or anything else. Please refer to this post for contact information. He always takes questions!
