Wrestling in the Alberta Legislature

Ranallo's treatment in WWE has garnered attention from legislative bodies

On May 3, 2017, Graham Sucha, the MLA for Calgary-Shaw, delivered a member's statement that was officially classified as being about bullying in the workplace, but more specifically it was about Mauro Ranallo's recent experience with WWE. I probably don't need to tell you how very rare it is for wrestling to come up in the Alberta Legislature, but I certainly wish it would more often. At the very least it's cool to think about Alberta's own history of professional wrestling and its ties to WWE. The points Mr. Sucha brings up about workplace harassment are also very important. Ranallo's experience, even while keeping in mind that we still don't know the full story, is hardly an isolated one and it shouldn't happen to anyone. I'm weirdly proud that WWE is being held to account by a representative of my government.

Anyway, please do give the statement a watch, and if you live in Calgary-Shaw, tell Mr. Sucha how much you appreciated it!
